This Summer we’re excited to team up with Phillppines pin-up illustrator Keeshia Felipe, AKA Kita for a 7 piece capsule collection of colour block pieces. Discovering her work via Instagram where she had illustrated her girls wearing Lazy Oaf, our founder Gemma Shiel was instantly drawn to the sultry and sassy style of the women she depicts. Inspired by her nostalgia for eighties fashion, Kita likes to create drawings of the girls and women who inspire her and apply them to a range of different media including clothing, stickers, zines and art installations.

Hello! I’m Keeshia Felipe, a visual artist and illustrator from Bulacan, Philippines. I have a degree in Fine Arts and I currently do freelance work for a local cosmetics company. I mostly spend my time in my bedroom when I’m at home, it’s the only place that I consider my own, and it puts me in the right mood to be creative.
Pinterest, Instagram, and Tumblr are my main source of inspiration. I’ve discovered Mel Stringer on Tumblr and have been following her ever since, her works helped me evolve mine. I’ve also been following Soto Gang’s and Sujin’s work for a while now.
Instagram is a big melting pot of different influencers with unique styles, you will never run out of new ideas to ponder on. You don’t even have to follow a person, just go to the explore tab and you’ll discover new people every day. It feeds my imagination with new and colourful ideas and it greatly improves my work.
My favourite Insta influencers at the moment are: Rachelle Vinberg, Chloe Sevigny, Crystal Tillman, Petra Collins, Tara Chandra, Leeanna and Salem Mitchell. Now that I think of it, I have never drawn Chloe Sevigny before and I would love to. Her style is timeless. I would love to see Amandla Stenberg and Chloe Sevigny wear our collection, but I would literally cry if Tyler, the Creator wears it! :-))
With the rise of online publications and everything social media, I love creating Risograph zines and prints that take us back to a time where we bought physical cd’s or posters…things we actually hold, keep and collect, to listen or read again some other time. My zine ‘Soft Girls’ celebrates girls of all shapes and sizes - I want people to feel confident with themselves and kill their insecurities, because we are all beautiful.
The Kita x Lazy collection is super fun and playful with its use of colour. I find I use Pink, Teal, and Purple as my main colours. It’s very easy on the eyes and everything in those colours looks cute to me. I completely fell in love with the turtleneck and the pants from this collection - so timeless and trendy at the same time I love it! Next up, I’d love to do my own line of cosmetics and I’d also love to do a swimwear range. It would be a dream come true to one day have my illustrations seen in Tokyo!
