See You Next Tuesday: Top Dogs, Frozen Prawns and Leo's Curtains
Welcome to this weeks latest installment of See You Next Tuesday where the Lazy Oaf team fill you in on the things that have caught our eye or got us talking in the office over the past 7 days. This week we're comparing dogs to cars, contemplating a fully-frozen-food diet and wishing our favourite nineties actor a very happy birthday. 1. INTERNET SENSATIONS: Woofwagen. It's unlike us to talk about cars at Lazy Oaf. While some of us do drive, the majority rely on bicycles and public transport to get us from A to B. However, one car company who have really caught our eye this week are Volkswagen with their latest campaign using dogs to illustrate that, much like our fave four-legged friends, there is a Volkswagen car for all of us. Inspired by their latest TV ad made by famous ad agency adam&eveDDB, the Volkswagen website has now introduced a special feature that sees a line up of some of our favourite dog breeds that come to life at the click of a button. Maybe we will be buying a car after all, or just a dog. 2. FOOD FAVOURITES: Prawns in blankets. Fly-on-the-wall documentaries can go two ways; they can completely ruin a brands reputation for good or highlight their best qualities reaching them out to a whole new audience. Fortunately the latter happened for UK frozen food supermarket Iceland who's endearingly honest three-part documentary on BBC Two has had us raving about them till the cows, or errr, frozen burgers come home. Aside from the hands-on management style of founder Malcolm Walker and excellent team morale amongst staff, one thing that really kept in our minds were some of the supermarkets latest food products on offer. We are now going to be serving up Bubble Bobble Prawns at our staff Chirstmas do. If you haven't seen it yet, make sure you see the Iceland Food series on iPlayer catch-up before it's too late. 3. WINDOW SHOPPING: Knits nice that. Winter is coming and there is nothing we can do about it, so rather than staying in our rooms looking at pictures of sunny beaches and pretending it's still OK to not wear tights, we recommend facing up to the cold. And there is no better way of doing this than investing in some candy coloured knitwear to attempt to brighten up this sad season. This week South Korean e-tailer STYLENANDA have got some good things going on, keep a special eye out for the faux fur, polar bear-style pull over. 4. MEDIA MATTERS: But I thought the old lady dropped it in the ocean. It's not normal to celebrate celebrities birthday's is it? We have enough of our friends and family and work colleagues birthdays to worry about as it is without having to remember to tweet our fave boy band member a big HB. That being said, this week is an exception as today is Hollywood hunk (yeah we said it) Ryan Gosling's 33rd birthday and yesterday actor and real-life Romeo Leonardo Dicaprio celebrated being one year off 40. Any excuse to Google nineties photos of a curtain-haired Leo and we're there. Â
